The 4th ASEAN Culture House Design Contest: Announcement of Winning Entries

The ASEAN Culture House recently announced the winning entries of the 4th ASEAN Culture House Design Contest, which accepted submissions for approximately two months from April 12 through June 4. Under the theme “ASEAN in Korea, Korea in ASEAN,” the contest received a total of 168 posters, 154 illustrations, and 33 webtoons from participants in 13 countries, including Korea and the ASEAN countries. After an expert evaluation and an online vote by people in and outside of Korea, seven entries were awarded the ‘Excellent Prize’ and 58 the ‘ASEAN Prize.’ The Grand Prize (MOFA Minister Prize), went to Kang Ui-rim for her work Till We Meet Again, which depicts a joyful encounter between people from Korea and ASEAN in the post-pandemic era. According

to Kang, her submission embodies her hope that the people of Korea and Viet Nam can gather on one of the Mekong River’s many bridges to console one another about the hardships experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the poster category, the Gold Prize (KF President Prize) was given for Same N Same by Ahmad Darma Saputra, an Indonesian who creatively showed the similarities between Korean and ASEAN countries’ cultures. In the illustration category, the Gold Prize (KF President Prize) was awarded to Bak Rae-chan for Festival Together, which introduces viewers to the Multicultural Food Street and the Street Arts Festival in Ansan, where you can discover ASEAN culture in Korea,. The names of the winners of the Special Prize (ASEAN Committee in Seoul Prize) and Silver Prize (ACH Director-General Prize) can be seen on the ACH website (see below). There will be an exhibition of all winning entries at the ACH’s Special Exhibition Gallery from September through October—don’t miss it!
