Tempted by a Variety of Charms : Vietnam

The Breath of Modern Hanoi

The history of French colonialism and memories of the American War in Vietnam are still visible in Hanoi, the country’s capital. Related historical sites include St. Joseph's Cathedral, a European-style Gothic Revival church resembling the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, and the Hanoi Citadel, code-named D67, which was used as the headquarters of the North Vietnamese Army during the war. Two other of Hanoi’s landmarks are the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where the body of Vietnam’s first president is preserved, and Ba Dinh Square, where he read the Declaration of Independence. Both sites serve as symbols of the country’s independence and unification. Last but not least, the splendid, European-style Presidential Palace, constructed by Auguste Henri Vildieu, the official architect for French Indochina, palace, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and his home are also noteworthy. Vietnam also has high coffee consumption and production capacity, which makes it the second-largest coffee producer in the world. There are old cafes and open-air cafes in Hanoi.

Da Nang, A Place Like Hawaii in Vietnam

Da Nang is the best resort in Vietnam and is called “Hawaii of Vietnam.” Its clean ocean and white shore, bordered by luxurious resorts, welcome tourists throughout the year. My Khe Beach, one of Da Nang's best surfing spots, draws surfers from all over the world to enjoy the waves. If you are traveling as a family, Ba Na Hills is recommended, which offers a theme park located on a 1,500-meter-high mountain peak. If you take the world's second-longest cable car to the top, you will see a whole new world of beautiful gardens, temples, hotels and amusement parks. Marble Mountain, a world-famous mountain made of marble, is sacred in Vietnam. The five peaks, representing trees, metal, earth, fire, and water, have natural caves created by corrosion, and a mysterious atmosphere descends when light shines into these caves.

Halong Bay, Art Above the Sea

A panorama of over 3,000 strange rocks and bizarre stones spread over an emerald sea at Halong Bay, the best Vietnam travel destination, listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site. There is a legend that dragons descended from the heavens to save villagers attacked by ancient enemies, and the traces of this occurrence are said to remain through the name “Ha Long” (“a place was a dragon has descended”). We recommend a customized cruise tour to enjoy Ha Long Bay, so you can thoroughly explore each island. Taking a cruise towards the islands will allow you to experience the illusion of flowing through a mysterious world. You may see a mysterious island eroded by age with the shape of a dragon, chicken, or dog, and you will have the chance to enjoy a cruise dinner prepared with fresh seafood.
