This book examines the interaction of bilateralism and regionalism evident in the relations between the two countries, following the establishment of Korea-Malaysia diplomatic relations. Politics and the economy were two particularly key factors in the creation and growth of the two countries’ties, ultimately contributing to the formation of the close political, economic, and social relations they enjoy today. Both countries also sought to discussregional cases, as political and economic exchange was significantly expanded through regionalism. The book offers a deeper understanding of the distinct characteristics of the two countries’ relationship, as well as ASEAN and East Asian regionalism, while outlining prospects for developing more balanced relations in the years ahead.
