Bazaar Mekong: Handicraft and Design Goods

To commemorate the 1st Mekong-Republic of KOREA Summit, the ACH held ‘Bazaar Mekong: Handicrafts and Design Goods,’ a showcase of the vibrant handicraft cultures of the five Mekong River countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam).
Representatives from 10 companies in the handicraft and design industries participated in the bazaar, displaying and selling various items such as Cambodian silk crafts, Laotian dyed goods, wooden lacquerware from Myanmar, Thai ceramics, and Vietnamese rattan and bamboo crafts. Participating companies and the goods on sale all offered insights into the unique social and cultural realities of each country.
Various workshop programs supplemented ‘Bazaar Mekong,’ including a traditional Hmong tribe embroidery class from Lao PDR, a Myanmar class on making animal-shaped clay dolls, a Thai ceramic necklace making class, and a bamboo dragonfly making class from Viet Nam. The event offered a fun and interactive chance for visitors to deepen their understanding of these five Mekong River countries.
