Brunei International Kite Festival

 

The first edition of this official kite-flying festival was hosted in 2019 
and officiated by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah 
in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei’s capital city. 
Around 100 people from 30 countries including China, Vietnam, and Colombia participated.

During this festival, monks recite the Vessantara Jātaka

— the tales of the 500 good deeds of Prince Vessantara, 

one of the Buddha’s previous incarnations.

This festival is held during the dry season at the hottest time of the year 

and festivalgoers wish for the crops to grow well.

Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

During this festival, people make pilgrimages to the Tay Phuong Pagoda
