Review

2020 ASEAN-Korea Craft Market

For three autumn days on the last October weekend, the 2020 ASEAN-Korea Craft Market was hosted by the ASEAN Culture House at F1963, a popular cultural space in Busan. The Craft Market, held outdoors in order to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infections, atttracted more than 1,800 people who enjoyed the market with sufficient space around them thanks to an online reservation system that limited the number of people throughout the three days.

A total of four events were held at the Craft Market, which had the theme “A Taste Trip to ASEAN.” 11 companies participated in the “ASEAN-Korea Craft Store,” which was at the heart of the event, and exhibited (and offered for sale) 270 different kinds of handicrafts representing the respective ASEAN countries’ traditions and modernity. 4 leading Korean fair trade companies participated in the “Fair Trade Pop-up Store” and showcased eco-friendly handmade products made in ASEAN.

Through the “Life Creation Workshop,” visitors were able to create silk screens, dream catchers, and knotted bracelets together with artisans from different ASEAN countries, which helped them to better understand ASEAN craft culture.

In 2021, we plan to host an even greater variety of events to allow visitors to experience and learn even more about ASEAN craft culture in a healthy and safe environment. We ask for your continued interest and participation in the ASEAN Culture Enjoyment Program, hosted by the ASEAN Culture House.
