2021 ASEAN Cinema Week

The ASEAN Cinema Week was held for the second time, following the festival’s first edition in 2019. Held over two weeks, from March 12-25, the 2021 ASEAN Cinema Week—ON:TACT was a resounding success, with a total of 15 movies screened both online and offline.
Offline screenings were held on the second March weekend at CGV Apgujeong in Seoul and the Busan Cinema Center in Korea’s film capital. In the latter, screenings were accompanied by a special talks, hosted jointly with guest visits, to allow the audience to better understand the movies. To offer a true festival experience especially for those unable to attend the offline events, all parts of the ASEAN Cinema Week, including congratulatory video messages from each of the ASEAN embassies in Korea, video messages by film directors, and film talks conducted with ASEAN personalities in Korea from all walks of life, were also streamed through the event’s channel at online platform Naver TV.
In doing so, the 2021 ASEAN Cinema Week—ON:TACT served as a great opportunity to show the Korean public new aspects of and perspectives on ASEAN culture through the medium of film.
