Online Exhibition Workshop “The Grand Indonesian Noodles: An Afternoon on a Volcanic Island”
On February 20, Ku Min-ja and German-Korean artist duo Kim Kim Gallery, who are featured in the “ASEAN Street Food: Hororok Chopchop Omulomul” exhibition, hosted an online workshop related to the exhibition’s theme. The workshop was attended by 31 teams from all over Korea, not only from Busan, where the ACH is located, but also from Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Daejeon, Ulsan and Chuncheon. Participants each cooked and tasted mie goreng, a famous Indonesian dish, and cendol, a dessert. Concocting both of these dishes went far beyond the act of physically preparing food and give participants the opportunity to think about images and colors associated with Indonesia as well as the meaning and history behind the country’s party foods. The workshop also showed images of artworks currently hanging in the ACH’s Exhibition Gallery to allow participants to learn about the workshop series conducted for “ASEAN Street Food” as well as the artistic world of the featured artists. Artworks portraying ASEAN’s street foods in various contemporary styles will remain on display at the ACH until April 11. If you are interested in visiting the ACH in person to view the artworks, please make a reservation in advance.
