Opening of the 2nd ACH Permanent Exhibition,
⟨ASEAN Storyteller: Spiritual Beliefs, Arts & Life⟩

For its fourth anniversary, the ACH decided to significantly modify its Permanent Exhibition Gallery? A process that began in July and will end on October 8 with the unveiling of a new exhibition in the revamped venue. Through ASEAN Storyteller: Spiritual Beliefs, Arts & Life, visitors will gain an understanding of the religious, artistic, and everyday pieces of wisdom that form the backbone of the 10 ASEAN countries’ psyche through diverse artworks, handicrafts, and items of clothing.

Unlike previous exhibitions that divided the gallery into 10 spaces (one for each ASEAN country), ASEAN Storyteller will spotlight ASEAN as a single community of “unity in diversity,” through themes such as religion, art, and life. The exhibition is also unique in that it utilizes diverse media, such as 4K-resolution video, kiosks, and digital picture frames. As soon as they enter the gallery, visitors will be greeted by a sweeping, panoramic, 4K resolution video that covers three walls, showing key cultural and historic sites in ASEAN. The video is followed by kiosk sections that have information on the 10 ASEAN countries. Each of the kiosks, which were designed to be human-sized, plays a video of an animated ASEAN diplomat dressed in the clothing of the country, and gives the viewer educational content on topics including geography, history, religion, and language. Another interesting feature of the gallery is the exhibits designed in large wooden cabinets that offer a neatly arranged display of objects organized by three key words. Visitors will be able to link their mobile devices to the gallery’s media devices for a fun, game-like experience of the exhibits.
