In September, the seventh installment of the Easy Access ASEAN Series, “Easy Access Philippines,” saw the hosting of a vibrant cultural festival. On September 7 and 13, Dr. Eun-hui Eom of Seoul National University and Professor Dong-yeob Kim of the Busan University of Foreign Studies held a lecture to promote cultural understanding of the Philippines. Meanwhile, on the second and third Saturday of the month, a civil servant of the Cebu provincial government and a staff member of the Philippine Embassy led the making of a multipurpose Filipino jeepney and traditional cooking classes. On Sunday, a special screening of Sunday Beauty Queen, a film depicting the life and dreams of migrant women from the Philippines, was also held. In cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in Korea, the program was an opportunity for everyone to take a step closer to understanding the familiar yet elusive culture of the Philippines.
