Exile:Conversations With Pramoedya Ananta Toer presents conversations on the modern history and society of Indonesia between Andre Vltchek, an American journalist, and Rossie Indira, an Indonesian writer, with renowned Indonesian novelist Pramoedya Ananta Toer (1925-2006).
Readers can learn Indonesian history and society through the eyes of an Indonesian intellectual. Although his name may be largely unfamiliar to Korean readers, Pramoedya Ananta Toer wrote many novels set in Indonesian modern history, including its colonial era, independence movement, and the Pacific War as well as modern Indonesian society.
He is not only famous in Indonesia but a globally acknowledged literary giant: Toer is a recipient of the Pablo Neruda Award and France’s Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
