Ticket to Childhood (Cho tôi xin một vé đi tuổi thơ) is a coming-of-age novel by Nguyen Nhat Anh, a preeminent Vietnamese author. The book is centered around a middle-aged writer as he recollects the most beautiful and passionate moments in his lifetime. The protagonist Mui narrates comfortably and cheerfully, conveying his warm childhood memories to adult readers and thereby evoking their own. The effect is one of the unique delight of peeking at the diaries of mischievous friends. Broadly praised by the public and critics alike, the novel won the Vietnamese Writers Association Award in 2009 and the SEA Writer Award, ASEAN’s most prestigious literary prize, in 2010.
