2019 UN Week in Busan: Special Lectures on Thailand and the Philippines as Members of the UN Contingent in the Korean War

On October 10 and 11, the ASEAN Culture House held special lectures on Thailand and the Philippines as members of the UN contingent in the Korean War, in celebration of the 2019 UN Week in Busan.
Two speakers were invited to the event from the Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS). Professor Kim Dong-yeob of the BUFS Institute for Southeast Asian Studies gave a special lecture entitled ‘Understanding the Korea-Philippines Relationship’ on October 10. Then, on October 11, Professor Kim Hong-koo of the BUFS Division of Convergence for Southeast Asian Studies spoke at a lecture entitled ‘Beyond the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Korea-Thailand Diplomatic Relations: From a Blood Alliance to a Strategic Companionship.’ Many guests, including public servants of Busan Metropolitan City, participated in the event. The ACH hopes these lectures offered a valuable opportunity for audiences to improve their understanding of the Philippines and Thailand, two of the ASEAN countries that fought in the Korean War.
