ASEAN Festival

Around 1,000 guests participated on October 5 and 6 in the ‘ASEAN Festival.’ In the Korean Food Cooking Contest, Team Aja Aja (meaning ‘we can do it!’) was awarded the grand prize for their stuffed squid and pan-fried battered perilla leaves. Many multicultural families, some of whose members hail from ASEAN countries, were present to show off their cooking skills, preparing various Korean dishes including samgyetang, injeolmi, tteokbokki, and gimbap. In addition, the ACH’s first floor Community Hall hosted an art exhibition from the ‘ASEAN Youth Leader Program’ and a food tasting where visitors could try various treats from the 10 ASEAN countries.
On the outdoor performance stage, ASEAN traditional dances, a special performance by Ibadi Art Organizations was held along with various exciting K-pop acts. Children had special opportunities to experience ASEAN culture directly through events and activities such as the Traditional Folk Plays Experience Zone, a traditional Indonesian wayang doll making class, and other DIY craft lessons. The festival was a fun and interactive event, promoting first-hand experience of the cultural diversity of ASEAN.
