Fly By Night: Malaysian Film Screenings
On November 7 and 8, the ASEAN Culture House held the “Fly By Night: Malaysian Film Screenings” to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and the Republic of Korea. Three interesting films, recommended by the Malaysian Embassy in Korea, were screened during the event, including the 2017 drama “Adiwiraku / My Superheroes (2017),” a heart-warming story based on true events, depicting a rural school teacher and her students preparing for a choral speaking competition; the 2018 crime thriller “Fly By Night (2018),” in which four taxi drivers extort money from wealthy passengers in order to pay their debts; and “Ejen Ali The Movie (2019),” an animated adaptation of a popular Malaysian TV series, depicting the adventures of a 12-year-old teenage agent. On a cool autumn evening, the audience took a mind trip to Malaysia and gained a better understanding of Malaysian culture through the film screenings.
