The Bamboo Tree with a 100 Knots is a traditional Vietnamese fairy tale about a stingy and wealthy landowner and an honest young laborer. The wealthy landowner lies about giving his daughter up for marriage if the young man works at his home for three years, and the naive young man willingly agrees and does even more than his share of work. 3 years later, as the wedding day approaches, the landowner, who was unwilling to keep his promise from the get-go, comes up with a deviant trick. “Since a lot of chopsticks are needed at the wedding ceremony, go find a bamboo tree with one hundred knots.” What do you think will happen to the wealthy landowner who gave the young man this impossible task and made him wander into the forest looking for such a tree?
